Are Incentives available?
Yes, given the right opportunity, Etna Township has used various incentive packagaes to attract businesses to our community, such as:
Enterprise Zone Tax Abatements. Areas of land in which businesses can receive tax incentives in the form of tax exemptions on eligible new investments, both Real and Personal Property, for up to 15 years.
Community Reinvestment Areas (CRA) Pre-1994—Designated portions of municipalities or unincorporated areas of counties where property owners can receive tax incentives for investing in Real Property improvements. This program promotes the revitalization of areas where investment has been discouraged.
Post-1994—This is a direct incentive tax exemption program benefiting property owners who renovate existing or construct new buildings. The difference between the Pre and the Post 1994 is that in the Post 1994, projects involving commercial or industrial facilities must negotiate tax breaks before the project begins.
Tax Increment Financing (TIF) An economic development mechanism available to local Ohio governments to finance public infrastructure improvements.
Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) This program provides townships the opportunity to cooperate to foster development without modifications to jurisdiction boundaries (annexations).
